My friend Heather

This week has been a rough one for me. My friend Heather had a brain tumor removed on Tuesday. She is doing really well, and I couldn't ask for anything more. God has surely played a VERY active part in this process, and I am reminded how awesome He is whenever I think about it all. The surgeon thinks he removed all of the tumor and anything left had the blood supply cut off, so the tumor shouldn't come back or grow again. Yeah! Heather has lost all hearing in her right ear, which she is having a hard time getting used to. Her balance is way off, which makes it difficult to walk. A medication she is on is making her blood sugar high, so she has to take insulin to combat that side effect. All in all, things are great! She is doing physical therapy which is hard. She has moved out of ICU and is in her own room. I was supposed to go see her tonight, but I can't due to Cj having 2 soccer games. I was going to try to go today, but I had to take Carson to the doctor for his ear infections. Heather will just have to put up with me for a LONG time tomorrow. :)
Her oldest son Travis came over to play with Tanner on Wed night. He got emotional when I asked him how he was doing. I gave him a sideways hug as he talked about his mom. I told him those things were small and to be thankful that Heather is still here. Again- praises to God! He was laughing shortly there after, which was great to see.
These photos are from the BBQ at Heather's house on Sunday afternoon. She wanted to have everyone together since she wasn't sure how long it would be before she would be able to have everyone over again. It was a lot of fun and there were a TON of people there. Heather is very loved. Totally understandable - she is a great wife, mother, and friend, and we are all very blessed to have her in our lives.

  1. Thank God Heather came through this so well. It was a great idea to celebrate life, friends, etc. with the BBQ. I'm sure everyone had a great time. Since her recuperation may take a bit, I imagine Heather enjoyed visiting with the crowd.
