Our first night away

Friday was our first overnight away from Carson. Needless to say, I was a little nervous, but I felt okay at the same time. I knew I would be busy, and he would be asleep before I would get him anyways. Plus, I knew Grammy and Grampy would take good care of him and they would all have a good time. I was getting an award with 39 other State Farm team members for our production last year. It was quite an honor, and I was excited to be there. We went to Harrah's casino in Kansas City, MO, so it wasn't very far. We had dinner and the awards then went to a bar and hung out with other State Farm people. Cj and I had a good time. However, I was ready to see my baby in the morning!!

This is me getting my award Fred, AFE (on the right) and John, VPA (on the left). This is me with Mary Norell, AFC. Love her!

Guess what your son did!!

That's what Cj heard on the phone Thursday morning when I called. Carson "helped" me go potty as we were getting ready to leave for Linda's and work. As I was washing my hands, I hear a splashing noise. Carson is playing in the toilet! I tell him no and dry his hands with the towel. Next thing I know, he's doing it again! After I tell him to close the toilet, he gets the towel and dries his hands. I had to laugh and tell him good job. Okay, that was a mistake because he did it again. Then, he played in the water AGAIN and came at me with wet hands. GROSS! Needless to say, we washed our hands and were done in the bathroom - ready or not.

Carson's girlfriend

Mommy with Carson and Savannah

Carson's girlfriend was born on February 7 at 1:13 am. Savannah Noel Sixta weighed in at 5 lb 2.8 oz and was 17 in long. Tiny baby girl! I took Carson to see her on that Sunday (8th), and he wasn't so sure about her. He was very jealous if I was holding her and not him. He got up and ran around the room at one point so I could hold her. I was able to hold her in one arm!! It was really cute when he pointed at her and said "baby." Very precious. Here are some pics of our new friend!

Valentine's Day

We had a good, but very busy, Valentine's Day. Cj was recovering from his Lasik on Friday. He LOVED being able to see with no contacts or glasses. Things were a little hazy at first, but they got better as the day went on. I ran a bunch of errands while Carson napped, then Cj and Tanner took off when I got home. Carson and I ate lunch then ran out again. Aaarrrggghhh!! I was running all day! When the boys got home, we got ready for Tanner's soccer game. After the game we went out to eat at Granite City. I was surprised with a beautiful bracelet. It's a link bracelet, with yellow, white, and broze gold links. Very nice! Even Tanner helped pick it out! We went home and watched TV as Carson fell asleep and I about crashed with him. Cj sent us both to bed. I read for a few minutes, which was quite a treat, then I hit the sack early. Made for a nice Valentine's Day!!

So, here we are (a few days late) with a big announcement: Carson told me no for the first time. Needless to say, I am not so thrilled with this new word. It happened on Thursday evening...
Cj was on his way downtown for work, so he needed to bring Carson to me at work on the way. (He picked up Carson early from Linda's since she had a doctor's appointment.) Carson had a grand old time playing in my desk and helping me reorganize and clean it out. Too bad I needed to keep track of some of those files! Anyways, after putting my desk back together for the 10th time, I got a little more forceful with my "Stop, Carson. No, no." I guess he got a kick out of it because he took a folder out, dragged it across the floor, then stopped to look at me. I looked at him and told him to stop. He raised his little arm, and as he brought it down, he said "naw" then started to laugh. Oh, the little turkey. He started to grin at me and I couldn't stay mad. I am NOT ready for that word to be a part of his vocabulary.
Cj thought it was quite humorous when I called him to let him know what his son had said. Uh-huh (another of Carson's faves.)
Unfortunately, Carson has said "naw" repeatedly and he hasn't forgotten it yet. I guess that happens when he gets to hear that word a few times a day. He already has selective listening, as he acts as though I didn't say anything when I do tell him no to something he knows not to do.
It's a good thing he's cute...

The joys of little boys

As if things with Carson weren't adventurous enough... The kid is about to give me a heart attack. He has NO fear! He was playing on the bed this morning and almost went off the other side but I happened to dive and catch him in time. He wanted to look over the side at something.
Carson loves to dance and go stand by the top of the stairs while dancing. Let's just say no to that one. We do have a baby gate, but it's stretched to the max due to our wide staircase. If he stands at it and shakes it, the gate will move and give way and he will tumble down the stairs. (I am speaking from experience.)
He is trying to walk up the stairs (goodness!), and Linda just called to let me know that he is trying to walk DOWN the stairs at her house. I am not ready for this!! She only has 2 stairs that are a foot high combined, but still. If he starts to walk down them there, who knows what he will try at my house.
I think I better invest in LOTS of bubble wrap and a good helmet for this kid!
