New tricks

So, Mommy has taught Carson some new tricks. :) They are so darn cute I can't stand it!!
First: he was playing with the lotion on Wed night. So, I opened it and put a little in his hands. He wasn't sure what to do with it. I put a little in my hand and rubbed my hands together to show him what to do. I put a little back in his hand and rubbed his hands together. Then Carson tapped the lotion on his hand (nothing came out - he hasn't figured out to squeeze the bottle to make it come out, thank goodness), put the bottle down, and rubbed his hands together. It was so precious!! Now he does it all the time and wants to put lotion on your hands too.
Second: Animal sounds. He said "moe" this morning for "moo" -- close enough for me. (Background info-- I don't really read his books anymore. I point to an animal, name it, and make the appropriate noise. Yes, I look like a total a**, but he finds it entertaining.) Well, I raise my arm like a trunk while trumpeting like an elephant. He raised his arm with me last night when we were on the elephant page. Next time, he made a noise while he did it. Yeah!! Of course he wouldn't do it when I called Cj to watch. But, Cj called this afternoon to let me know that Carson showed him how to be an elephant. Adorable.

Slam dunk

"Bah" is Carson's latest word = ball. He was playing basketball with Tanner on Saturday when Daddy lifted him up to dunk. That was just the best until Daddy went inside and Carson expected Mommy to lift him up. Okay, well, I'm just not that tall, and Carson couldn't quite lift the ball high enough to put it over the rim and into the hoop. He got quite frustrated that I couldn't grow a few inches to make this happen. Needless to say, I did try about 5 times to make him him happy before I said no more. What a clown! He now loves to bounce the "bah" around the basement and has found that golfballs bounce really well in the house and they are small enough for him to carry 1 in each hand. Oh, joy.

Sign language

Carson's sign language is getting so much better! He signed "thank you" to Daddy when Daddy did something for him. A little while later, I asked him to sign
"please" before I gave him what he wanted. WOW! THEN, he signed more, when he wanted more food that night at dinner. This is great!
So, that was Friday and Saturday. Signing hasn't gone so well since then, but I try to remember to do the sign as I am saying the word, so Carson will pick up the sign and associate it with the word.
There are Kindermusik classes that do baby sign language to music, but they are during the week. That just doesn't work! We will have to figure out something else and maybe try another class with music. Carson loves to dance!

Hiding under the sink

Always an adventure...
Carson was in the bathroom with me this morning as I finished getting ready for work when Potter started barking to come in. I left Carson digging under the sink, like he usually does, to get the dog. After getting Potter and treat and coming back to my room, Carson wasn't there. He loves to hide, so I asked, "Where is Carson?" The cabinet door opened and out popped Carson. Too funny! Once he saw my smile, he backed in again and shut the door. He popped out when Grampa Ron showed up, and it took both of us to convince Carson to come out and stay out. What a little turkey!

Happy St Patty's Day

Of course I made Carson wear green to celebrate his 2nd St Patty's Day. If you can't read it, his shirt says "Born to be Wild" - and he lived up to it, as usual.

Carson rang the doorbell after our walk and waited for someone to answer. Tanner opened the door and Carson went in with arms raised, waiting for Tanner to pick him up. It was so cute!! Cj laughed as I immediately grabbed the camera. I can't miss cute moments like that with my boys!
After dinner, Tanner went back out to play basketball with the neighbor boys. Carson had to follow. He did really good at playing and skateboarding, with a little help from Tanner. Bathtime brought a fit and tears, since Carson was not ready to come inside yet. Life is so rough at 15 months...

Hope y'all had a great day!

Knocking on the door

Carson has a new game - take off when getting out of the car for the front door. He will stand and knock on the door while I am knocking back from the inside. He goes towards the opening then laughs and shuts the door in my face. Wow... Wouldn't be so bad if he didn't scream and yell and throw a fit when I bring him inside. Hello, kid - I'm not going to squat at this door all day. I have other things to do AND he doesn't need to be out there all day. Plus, he will start to turn and go down the step and want to take off down the driveway. We haven't quite learned street safety yet...

Terrible twos already?

Carson has had quite the attitude the past few days. It is getting nuts! Linda has had to put him in timeout and we have at home, too. I know he is working on his 4 eye-teeth, but still. He was running around church yesterday and started to play with the doors to go in and out. Grampy played that game for a little while. He ran around Kohl's when we went to see Grammy after church. He even looked at Cj this morning and said, "Dad, no!" Oh goodness! Cj shot him a nice glare, and it was all I could do not to laugh. I'm not ready for this yet!
On a cute note, Carson is saying "u-o" for "uh-oh" when he drops something. He is also saying "whoa" and "wow." He is still saying "boppy" which I cannot figure out!
I could swear he said "bampy" for Grampy this morning, but I'm not sure Grampy believed me when I told him. We'll wait and see if he says it again...

Taking a shower

Mornings are busy enough as it is. Cj usually leaves by 7, and Carson and I run around the last hour eating breakfast, making my lunch, getting Potter outside, changing Carson's clothes, and finishing whatever else needs to be done before we walk out the door.

I guess Carson's bath the night before wasn't enough, since he felt the need to get in the shower while I was getting dressed. Thank goodness he didn't play with my razor! He was still in his jammies, so I only had to change his clothes once. That would have been an ordeal because the world about ends every time he puts his clothes on. He takes after his mom...

Dishwasher

So, Carson decided that he would "help" me reload the dishwasher. Not so much. He set his bottle on the door then climbed on up! Needless to say, the door was still wet from the newly washed dishes... Oh, well. He had a great time. And, according to my mom, that was one of my favorite places to sit as a kid. I wonder where he gets it...

Uncle Scott, Aunt Mary, and Dr Baby came to visit

Uncle Scott and Aunt Mary came in town over the weekend to pick out some counters and flooring for their new home, as well as making a run to Babies R Us and Bass Pro Shop. I bet you can guess who wanted to go where...

Anyways, they came over for breakfast then it was time to get ready and head out! Aunt Mary, Dr Baby, Carson and I headed to Babies R Us while Uncle Scott, Tanner, and Cj went to Bass Pro. Oh, Baby! We had a good time playing with the strollers, carseats, and highchairs.

Lunch was the next priority, so Chipotle was our next stop before home. Note to self: never keep a pregnant woman hungry or thirstyl. Believe me - I know better. I remember how that was. It can get quite ugly. :)
Uncle Scott and Aunt Mary left to go to their flooring appointment while we got Carson to lay down for a nap before Tanner's soccer game. I still don't undestand why he fights sleep - a nap is a wonderful thing!

Dinner was fun at Houlihan's, as Carson kept everyone quite entertained.
Aunt Mary and Carson snuggled as he had his bottle before bed, then crashed on her since she has the perfect Dr Baby bump.

New words

Yesterday Carson started using a couple new words. When I pointed to the cow in the book, he said "mmm" after I told him the cow goes "moo." Not sure if that's what he meant, but I'm taking it! Then, he was playing in a laundry basket when it started to tip. He said "whoa." Too funny! I almost forgot - I don't remember the story, but Carson said "uh-oh" on Sunday. Linda said she says "uh-oh spagetti-o" a lot and her granddaughter Keelee says "uh-oh etti-o."
The one we can't figure out is "boppy." Carson has pointed to many things and said "boppy," including animals in a book, pictures of the family, and pictures in magazines. We kinda think he means Tanner since that seems to be the most consistent, but we aren't sure. Once the mystery is solved, we will clue you in!

Little Miss P!!

I'm an aunt again!! Peyton was born at 10:44 am. She weighed in at 6 lb 15 oz and was 20 in long. She looks a lot like her big sister Elisabeth, but her cheeks are rounder and she's 2 inches longer than Miss E was. Everything went very well for Rachel, as she went in last night for Cervadil, then had her water broken and started Pitocin at 7am. The epidural came at 8am, then came Peyton! I am so excited to meet this beautiful baby girl.

Shorts weather

Today was actually nice enough for shorts! I bought Carson a new outfit for the occasion. The cute little plaid shorts with a shirt that says "Who's calling me crabby" with a crab under it. Too cute!

Carson was trying to "help" me take his picture. He was holding the lens cap for me.

I had just said no after he tipped over my coffe mug, so he really was "crabby."

Markers

So, Carson played with markers on Saturday. He did okay with coloring on the paper. Got some on the kitchen floor. No biggie, they are washable. Very washable. I used a baby wipe and the marker came right off.

This is what happened before I put Carson in the tub Sunday night. At least the water made the color run right off. Love that! I told Cj that he looked like KISS, only the makeup was turquoise!

Linda called me on Tuesday morning to ask if Carson had gotten into markers. Yes, why? She thought he had scratches on his chin until he saw purple in his ear. Oops! I guess I didn't get it all cleaned up before daycare! Oh, well - he had a good time. :)

Anna Banana

Anna (my boss Julie's daughter) came in to work yesterday before her doctor's office. She broke her wrist on Monday night at gymnastics. She told me they were at the hospital from 5-10. Ohmigosh! They said it's a buckle fracture and she should only have to wear her purple cast for 3 weeks. Not too bad! Thank goodness it will be off before Hawaii!!

Time Out

Carson got his first time out yesterday at Linda's. He was playing with the buttons on the TV (he does this at home all the time, too) and she kept moving him away and telling him no. After the 4th or 5th time, she told him he was going in time out. She put him in a highchair with a few toys on the tray and told him he was going to have to sit there for a few minutes. He, of course, threw a fit until she told him to stop that - and he did. FYI - that doesn't work at my house. He sat and played for a few minutes and didn't go near the TV again.
Needless to say, Carson went to play with our TV last night. I told him no, and moved him away from it. He looked at me before pushing the button to see if I was paying attention. Little turkey! He went over there again and turned off the TV this time. Ugh! So, Mommy got to put Carson in time-out. He was NOT happy. He stood up in the chair, and he exploded when I made him sit. He got up again to peer over the side of the chair, so I reminded him to sit down. Yes, he does know what that means. He sat and screamed. When I finished folding the laundry, I picked him up. He clung to me for dear life. I hugged him, told him I loved him, and I reminded him why he was put in time-out.
By the time we moved upstairs to watch Idol while going to sleep, Carson forgot the lesson he learned downstairs. Our upstairs TV is a smaller version of our downstairs TV. Carson started to climb on the bottom shelf of the armoire to get to the TV. Hello?!? I looked at him and told him to get down or he was going in time out again. He got down and gave me his sad face.
Don't worry - he tried to climb on the armoire again this morning. Aaarrrggghhh!

Playing with ALL the toys

Just to fill you in: I LOVE OVERALLS!!!
Carson loves to dance to the "Are you driving?" song. It is too funny!!
Grammy and Grampy got Carson this truck for Christmas. He can't really move it along, but he sure loves to honk the horn and make the "engine" run.
This is one of Carson's FAVE toys!! Connie and Julie got this music table for Carson's first birthday, and he plays with it constantly. Right now it is set on Spanish, so we may have a biligual baby in our house!
The exercise ball is fun for all. Tanner likes to play on it, too. It is a lot of fun to watch the boys bounce on the ball.
Yes, I did buy a lawn mower with the popping makers. I was trying to buy Carson a kitchen so he would leave my pots and pans alone, but he found the lawn mower first and was sold on it. Darn it!

This horse makes music, turns in circles, and bounces up and down. It can be quite entertaining, until it starts making noise for no reason at all. It can be hooked up the the TV so Carson can watch himself play, but we haven't done that yet. I don't want Carson near the TV - he already pushes the buttons on there. He can't figure out why it's not a toy for him, too.

Cooking Cheerios

Carson loves to "cook." He "helps" me make dinner a lot by banging the pots and pans and stirring with ALL of the utensils. The best part is when he leaves the little death traps all over the floor.

Part of cooking is sampling... Carson will stir, then taste, then stir again. Sometimes he will even stir in a couple of pans or bowls before sampling again to make sure the flavor is right. He just may be a great cook someday!

Adalynn's 1st Birthday

Adalynn turned 1 on Feb 21. We went to Troy and Jackie's to celebrate the BIG birthday. It was fun, and Adalynn was too cute. We didn't get to stay for too long since it was dinner time, but we wouldn't miss out. Carson and Adalynn are starting to figure each other out. I think they need to be around each other a little more before they are really comfortable playing together. Plus, there was so much going on around them!

More teeth

Carson is getting his dreaded "eye" teeth. Ouch! He has been crabby this weekend and I finally saw why yesterday. I saw the top left tooth poking thru yesterday morning and the top right was swollen. By last night, I saw the top right one starting to poke thru. I hope they come in quickly! These are definitely worse than the molars - good thing I was warned about that. Carson doesn't mind taking is baby Advil. In fact, he will stop drinking his bottle in order to take the gas drops or medicine. He's so silly! Once these are in, he will have 14 teeth. Holy cow!!
