Carson got his first time out yesterday at Linda's. He was playing with the buttons on the TV (he does this at home all the time, too) and she kept moving him away and telling him no. After the 4th or 5th time, she told him he was going in time out. She put him in a highchair with a few toys on the tray and told him he was going to have to sit there for a few minutes. He, of course, threw a fit until she told him to stop that - and he did. FYI - that doesn't work at my house. He sat and played for a few minutes and didn't go near the TV again.
Needless to say, Carson went to play with our TV last night. I told him no, and moved him away from it. He looked at me before pushing the button to see if I was paying attention. Little turkey! He went over there again and turned off the TV this time. Ugh! So, Mommy got to put Carson in time-out. He was NOT happy. He stood up in the chair, and he exploded when I made him sit. He got up again to peer over the side of the chair, so I reminded him to sit down. Yes, he does know what that means. He sat and screamed. When I finished folding the laundry, I picked him up. He clung to me for dear life. I hugged him, told him I loved him, and I reminded him why he was put in time-out.
By the time we moved upstairs to watch Idol while going to sleep, Carson forgot the lesson he learned downstairs. Our upstairs TV is a smaller version of our downstairs TV. Carson started to climb on the bottom shelf of the armoire to get to the TV. Hello?!? I looked at him and told him to get down or he was going in time out again. He got down and gave me his sad face.
Don't worry - he tried to climb on the armoire again this morning. Aaarrrggghhh!

Good to know that other mommies do have these things happen too!
